Seventh month of Pregnancy

On reaching the seventh month, all organs of the fetus will be developed. In case, due to some reason the baby has to be taken out, then also we can make it survive by giving due care.

 

From the seventh month the pregnant woman will start to put on weight considerably. But do not put control on food due to this. Have healthy and nutritious food. There is chance for being anemic again. In order to avoid anemic condition have more iron content food and vitamins. If the baby’s father’s blood group is positive and mother’s is negative, then there can be chance for the RH factor problem. Take the injection to prevent this. Since the stomach is becoming bigger, it is difficult for the spinal cord to hold the weight. So make sure you give support to your back with a pillow while sitting.

 

From the seventh month the uterus will grow 1cm in each week. The blood pressure that was low in the earlier months can come up now. On the eighth month your blood pressure can reach to almost similar level blood pressure of delivery time. You may feel that you are losing strength of hips and thighs. This happens due to the growth and increase in weight and of the fetus. Some may feel the loss of a drop of urine while laughing or coughing. This is known as “Stress incontinence”. This happens due to the pressure on urinary bladder and also due to the loss of strength of urinary bladder and its walls. This will be cured by itself after the delivery. But for some this may continue. So if you feel you have incontinence please let your doctor know about it and take advice.

Tips for sixth month

  • Try to keep your foot in a comfortable higher level that is on a chair or so, since there will be swelling on the foot and ankle.
  • Sit straight to keep you back bone straight. Also try to give a support for the back. This will help to prevent the difficulty to breathe due to the big stomach.
  • Abstain from using footwear with heel because you need a balancing of body.
  • Do not prevent yourself from drinking water in the thought of frequent urination. Drink more water or else it will lead to urinary infection or dehydration.
  • On reaching sixth month do not use rings on fingers because your fingers can become big at any point of time from now.
  • Please make a habit to walk slowly everyday for sometime to give relief to your body and to comfort the blood circulation.
  • Try to lie down on your left side always and also give a support for the stomach with a pillow.
  • By completing sixth month make sure that you are in a very clean surrounding without any dust to disturb you. Clean your carpets, bed sheets, mats etc.

Growth of Fetus in Sixth Month

In the sixth month a pregnant woman can feel the movements of fetus by touch. In the beginning of sixth month the fetus will be 18cm length and 300gms weight, which will reach to 20-22cm lengths and 500-550gms weights by the end of the month. The organs of the fetus would have grown according to the proportion. It may try to reach for hands or fingers for sucking. The eyelids would have developed to a great extent. The fetus will be keeping on drinking the amniotic acid. It gets all proteins from this. By digesting the amniotic acid the internal organs will be preparing them for the digestion process.

 

The fetus will start looking like how it looks after the delivery. Eyebrows will have started growing. The skin will be wrinkled. If the fetus is male, then its sex organs will attain growth. The immunity system will be developed by now. Pancreas will be developed and will be prepared for the production of insulin hormone. In the sixth month the respiratory organs starts to grow to get prepared for the whole system. The eyeballs have developed and eyelids.

 

Since the respiratory organs starts to develop in the sixth month, the fetus will not be able to live if born before the sixth month. But there are cases reported that the fetus is taken out in the sixth month and has helped it to continue living using the modern science.
In short, by completing the 6th month a fetus is almost prepared for birth.
